We have worked with Ronel Jordaan since the very inception of both our Southern Guild gallery in 2008, and our export agency for artisanal homeware to international retailers, Source 2004, and she has remained an integral participant in a diverse range of developments, projects, programmes and large-scale order fulfilment since then.
Ronel is a true collaborator, design thinker and problem solver – bringing not just superb craftsmanship and original ideas to any commission or project, but a hands-on approach to finding the best way to go about it. We have worked together on numerous prestigious projects, including the over-scaled conceptual animal creations for Porky Hefer’s Endangered collection to benefit the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation and his Plastocene collection for the NGV addressing sea pollution. The latter included a 16m wide Octopus made from gigantic felted “cigarette butts”, which required a true out-of-the-box approach and incredible attention to detail not to mention stamina, resourcefulness and dedication under gruelling deadlines.
Ronel and her team of artisans are utterly committed to quality, innovation, transformation all the while producing elegant and timeless design objects that transcend trend.
